| I designed and tested more than 40 circuits for Western Electric 555 driver field power supply. This No.4 type is designed using huge 250u+250u film capacitor and large 4 Henry , 1 Henry and 430mH choke coils. This power unit supplies 1.5A for two series of 555 driver. Voltage is adjustable with 5 taps of transformer. | ||

With my many experiments, chemical capacitors ( even oil capacitors) were not so good. I believe there are noise issue. Selenium rectifier has mechanical vibration that makes electric noise, I believe. I choose capacitor input circuit for this issue rather than choke input. Shown below is STUPID power supply look like power plant. |

| Western Electric 555 driver is very very sensitive for the quality of field power supply. I will add constant current circuit by power MOS FET or transistor. | ||
